Rating Breakdown

To evaluate Geonode, I applied our proxy review methodology, a structured framework used across all reviews in this series to ensure scores are consistent, fair, and based on real first-hand experience rather than marketing claims.

Here is how Geonode scored across every key parameter.

CategoryScoreWhy This Score
Prices & Plans9.0/10Twenty-one pricing tiers, entry-level at $0.50/GB, a $5 trial is accessible, and bandwidth rolls over. Auto-renewal default and forfeited bandwidth on cancellation are real downsides.
Proxy Pool & Coverage9.4/10Four proxy product types, 200+ countries, country/state/city targeting, and a direct-ownership claim on the IP pool with 30 million+ IPs.
Features & Ease of Use9.6/10Clean dashboard with strong proxy configuration tooling, sticky sessions up to 24 hours, port separation for rotating and sticky sessions, and a built-in API code generator supporting 13 languages.
Performance9.3/10Geonode reports an average response time of 500ms and a 99% success rate. Their own-pool infrastructure is a genuine quality signal. Performance is best suited for scraping, SEO, and research workloads rather than latency-critical operations.
Support8.8/10The AI agent answered both technical questions accurately and in detail. Human agent Tarek joined within 34 minutes and gave a complete, honest answer on sticky session behaviour. Faster than the stated 3-hour SLA, though not as fast as the top performers in this review series.
Overall9.2/10Geonode delivers strong developer tooling, competitive pricing, and a well-built dashboard. The product-to-price ratio is one of the best in this series. Support exceeded its own stated SLA in our live test, which counts in its favour.

The $5 trial gives 10 GB of bandwidth for 3 days with full access to all features. If not cancelled before the trial ends, it automatically upgrades to the $50/month Starter plan. The trial requires a credit card.

A few things to be aware of:

  • Bandwidth rolls over as long as your subscription stays active
  • If you cancel, any unused bandwidth is forfeited
  • The subscription auto-renews by default and must be manually cancelled before the billing cycle ends
  • Crypto payments are accepted alongside credit card

Geonode also runs a 1,000 GB free program targeted at high-volume enterprise users. This is separate from the standard trial and requires an application.

Performance

Geonode publishes a 500ms average response time and a 99% success rate across its network.

screenshot of average response time and a success rate results

These figures come directly from their platform and represent their headline performance commitment for residential proxy traffic.

A key factor behind these numbers is infrastructure ownership. Geonode runs its own IP pool rather than aggregating third-party sources, which gives them direct control over routing quality and IP hygiene.

The pool covers 30 million+ IPs across 200+ countries. In practice, this tends to produce more consistent behaviour across sessions compared to reseller-based services where quality varies by the underlying supplier.

The 500ms average response time is a reasonable benchmark for residential proxies. Traffic is routed through real devices on consumer internet connections rather than data center infrastructure, so response times vary by region and target site.

Geonode’s datacenter proxies offer faster throughput for workloads where latency matters more than stealth.

The 99% success rate applies to data collection tasks, which is the primary intended use case. For web scraping, SEO monitoring, price tracking, and ad verification, this is the metric that matters most. Geonode’s geo-targeting depth at country, state, and city level directly supports this figure by reducing the likelihood of geo-mismatch blocks.

Geonode is well-suited to scraping, market research, SEO, and automation workloads. It is not positioned for latency-critical operations such as live price monitoring at the millisecond scale.

Ease of Use

I evaluated three areas: the registration flow, the dashboard experience, and the overall verdict on how approachable the platform is for both technical and non-technical users.

1. Signing Up

Getting an account took under three minutes. The signup page offers email/password registration or Google SSO.

screenshot of Geonode sign up form

After submitting an email address, a verification link is sent immediately.

screenshot of Geonode email confirmation

Clicking it confirms the account and routes straight to a short three-step onboarding flow:

  • Account type selection: Individual or Business
  • Discovery survey: where you first heard about Geonode
  • Profile details: name, plus optional LinkedIn link, contact method, and use case description

screenshot of Geonode questions

All fields beyond the name are optional, and a “Skip for now, go to dashboard” button is shown prominently throughout. No credit card is required to access the dashboard.

2. Inside the Dashboard

The dashboard is clean and purpose-built. The left-hand sidebar divides navigation into three sections:

  • Services lists Residential Proxies, ISP Proxies, Rotating Datacenter Proxies, and Unlimited Residential Proxies (beta)
  • Tools covers IP Whitelist, Chrome Extension, Feature Request, and Referral Program
  • Profile includes Settings, Changelog, Log Out, Support, and API Docs

screenshot of Geonode API Credentials

The main Proxies panel shows a bandwidth usage bar with GB remaining and GB used, subscription details including the next payment date and monthly price, and four tabs: Proxy Configuration, Port Configuration, Active Sticky Sessions, and Statistics.

The Proxy Configuration tab is where most users will spend their time. It includes an endpoint format dropdown, a DNS or IP toggle, an endpoint count selector, and dropdowns for IP type, gateway, country, state, and city targeting.

Below these controls, a live endpoint list regenerates as each setting changes, outputting ready-to-use proxy strings in a dark terminal-style display. API credentials sit at the top of the panel with copy and refresh buttons.

3. Proxy Management

After exploring the dashboard layout, I wanted to dig into the proxy configuration and management tools more carefully.

The Proxy Configuration tab is the most important screen in the dashboard.

It is built around a live endpoint generator with six settings running down the right side: IP Type, Gateway, Country targeting, State targeting, City targeting, and an endpoints count field.

screenshot of Geonode API Credentials

As you change any of these, the endpoint list in the dark terminal-style panel on the left regenerates immediately. The format of the output is also configurable via a dropdown at the top of the panel, with hostname:port:username:password as the default.

A DNS/IP toggle lets you switch between using the Geonode DNS hostname and a direct IP address, both available in the same place without any extra setup.

The granularity here is worth noting. Setting Country to United States, State to California, and leaving City as “Any” generates endpoint strings that are already formatted with those parameters embedded directly. For example: us.proxy.geonode.io:9000:geonode_demo-type-residential-country-us-california-asn-6167:demopass.

The targeting is baked into the endpoint string itself rather than passed as a separate parameter, which makes integration into scraping scripts or automation tools straightforward. API credentials sit at the top of the panel with individual copy and refresh buttons for the username and password.

The Active Sticky Sessions tab gives you a live view of currently held sessions, and the Port Configuration tab lets you manage the port ranges for rotating versus sticky behavior.

The Statistics tab covers usage over time across hour, day, and week intervals. It is not the most granular view you will find in this space, but it covers what most teams need for basic spend tracking.

screenshot of Geonode Proxies

On the API side, Geonode offers a well-structured Proxy API with its own documentation hub covering an API Reference, Guides, and a Change Log.

screenshot of Geonode Help articles

The API uses Basic Authentication: your proxy username and password encoded in Base64 and passed in the Authorization header on every request.

The API covers four main capabilities:

  • Targeting specific geolocations (countries, states, cities, and ISPs)
  • Managing sticky sessions
  • Tracking usage statistics such as bandwidth and session counts
  • And filtering by proxy type (residential, datacenter, or mobile)

The Sticky Sessions Control section of the docs includes endpoints for creating new sessions, configuring session ID and lifetime, listing all active sessions, performing bandwidth-limited sessions, and releasing sessions by port.

This is one of the more complete API implementations for session management reviewed so far.

Verdict
Proxy management verdict: Geonode’s configuration tool is the most visual and interactive proxy setup experience reviewed. The live endpoint generator, embedded targeting parameters, and DNS/IP toggle remove almost all of the manual work that usually comes with getting proxy strings into the right format.

The API is thorough on sticky session control, which matters for teams that need to manage sessions programmatically rather than through the dashboard.

Overall Ease of Use Verdict

Geonode’s onboarding is among the most frictionless in this review series. Registration takes under three minutes, email verification is instant, and the dashboard is accessible without entering a payment method.

The proxy configuration tool removes the manual work of constructing endpoint strings and makes targeting changes fast and repeatable. Even users without a technical background would find the interface manageable.

For developers, the multi-language code generator and clean API documentation make integration straightforward from the start.

Level of Support

Geonode provides a live chat widget accessible from any page on the site.

For this review, I tested the live chat, then escalated to a human agent to assess how the ticket system performs under a real technical question.

The Test

Geonode’s live chat is accessible via the icon in the bottom-right corner of the website. The widget opens on an AI agent. The first question asked was a technical one about session types.

Question: Do you support both rotating and sticky sessions? What is the maximum sticky session duration?
Answer: AI response (immediate):

The AI confirmed both session types are supported. Rotating sessions assign a new IP per request using ports 9000 to 9010 for HTTP and 11000 to 11010 for SOCKS5. Sticky sessions hold the same IP using ports 10000 to 10900 for HTTP and 12000 to 12010 for SOCKS5. Maximum sticky duration is 24 hours (1,440 minutes), with a configurable range of 3 minutes to 24 hours and a default of 60 minutes.

This is a technically accurate, specific answer. Port ranges, maximum duration, default behaviour, and configuration method were all addressed in a single response without needing a follow-up.

A request was then made to escalate to a human representative. The AI created a ticket and the widget displayed a message stating the wait time was “Within 3 hours.”

screenshot of Livechat conversation

Question: Are there any websites or use cases that are restricted or not allowed on your network?
Answer: AI response (immediate):

The AI stated that Geonode does not block specific websites, but proactively blocks access to sites associated with unethical or illegal behaviour to keep the network compliant. Lawful use is permitted. Illegal, fraudulent, or harmful use is not. There is no public allowed or restricted site list.

A second escalation request was made. Another ticket was created.

screenshot of Livechat conversation

The Response

The message was sent at 9:56 am. Tarek from the Geonode Support Team joined the conversation at 10:30 am, a response time of 34 minutes. This was significantly faster than the stated 3-hour SLA.

Tarek’s response on sticky sessions covered the following:

  • Maximum sticky session duration is up to 24 hours
  • The same IP cannot be guaranteed for the full duration
  • Duration depends on network conditions and IP availability
  • The recommended session length for stability and performance is around 60 minutes

screenshot of Livechat conversation

Support Verdict

The AI layer handled both technical questions accurately and without needing a human handoff for information. For users with routine queries, the AI will often be sufficient on its own.

Human access required a ticket, but Tarek responded in 34 minutes rather than the stated 3-hour window. The answer was clear and honest about the limits of sticky session guarantees, which is more useful than a blanket confirmation of the maximum duration without caveats.

Geonode’s support sits comfortably in the mid-tier of this review series.

Conclusion

Geonode is a well-built, developer-first proxy service that delivers on its core value proposition. The pricing is genuinely competitive at $0.50/GB entry level for residential proxies, the dashboard and configuration tools are among the cleanest in this review series, and the $5 trial gives meaningful access with low commitment.

The proxy configuration tool, multi-language API code generator, and granular geo-targeting all reward technical users.

Support came in at 34 minutes for a human response, which beat the stated 3-hour SLA and suggests the system performs faster in practice than advertised. The AI agent is a strong first line that handles technical questions accurately. The main caveat is that there is no immediate human access if something goes wrong urgently.

For developers, small teams, and cost-conscious buyers comfortable with self-service tooling, Geonode is a strong choice.

For enterprise buyers who need instant human escalation or guaranteed sticky session stability over long durations, the caveats Tarek highlighted are worth weighing carefully before committing.

Korduma kippuvad küsimused

How does the $5 trial work?

The $5 trial gives 10 GB of bandwidth and full access to Geonode’s features, including residential and datacenter proxies, unlimited concurrent connections, and SOCKS5/HTTP(S) support, for 3 days. If not canceled before the trial ends, it automatically upgrades to the $50/month Starter plan. Unused trial bandwidth rolls over into the upgraded plan.

Does Geonode offer sticky sessions?

Yes. Sticky sessions are supported across HTTP and SOCKS5. The default duration is 60 minutes, configurable between 3 minutes and 24 hours via the dashboard or custom session ID. The same IP is not guaranteed for the full duration as availability depends on network conditions.

What happens to my bandwidth if I cancel?

Any remaining bandwidth is forfeited when you cancel. Bandwidth rolls over month to month as long as your subscription stays active, but it does not survive cancellation.

What proxy types does Geonode offer?

Four products are available: Residential Proxies, ISP Proxies, Rotating Datacenter Proxies, and Unlimited Residential Proxies (currently in beta). All standard plans include access to both residential and datacenter IPs.

Does Geonode support geo-targeting?

Yes. Country, state, and city-level targeting is available across 200+ countries. ISP targeting is listed as a future addition.

Can I pay with crypto?

Yes. Geonode accepts both credit card and cryptocurrency payments.
